Welcome All of You Fashionable, Soon-to-Be-Mustache-Wearing Gentlemen

Thank you for dropping by our event. With some dedication and hard work, March 2009 will be an unmitigated success. Mustache-wearing gentlemen will begin popping up at work and play across San Diego as we take back the mustache and lend it credibility and respectability.

More importantly, it should be noted, we will begin wearing mustaches in an effort to collect pledges and donations, not unlike a telethon (well, not really like a telethon since there won't be a TV or a guest host or people sitting in a telephone bank soliciting donations), from friends and family alike. Said pledges and donations will then be combined and donated to a children's hospital or charity.

Granted, the stigma attached, unrightly so I might point out, to mustaches is that of perverse ideals and even more perverse intentions. The truth could not be further from the stigma. Wearing a mustache to aid in, albeit in a small way, the recovery or care of children will be both liberating and exhilarating. The cause is bigger than the mustache.

While there may be a (quote-unquote) Mustaches for Kids organization that exists across the United States already, our own organization is unaffiliated with that group in any and all circumstances. The only commonality is the shared enthusiasm of the mustache. Their bi-laws are onerous and off-putting for our taste. However, it should be noted that we do support their cause of both wearing mustaches and supporting children.

So please, take a moment to thank a mustachioed gentleman should you meet one. Shake his hand, look him in his eye. Don't be timid. He will probably be wearing his mustache with pride. He also might be wearing it for the kids.
